LAUNCH OF GORDON'S CHALLENGE
Gordon's challenge was launched at the Mountbatten Centre which has been set up as a continuation for those who have done Challenge 8.
The Gordon's Challenge was named as a dedication to Gordon Chaffey, who was and advocate of exercise. All the equipment needed for the challenge was provided by his wife Monica.
Gordon in his early years was an accomplished sprinter who was very successful at 400 yards. He joined the Portsmouth Athletic Club in 1949, but had to give it up in 1957 due to a serious eye operation.
Together with the help of three friends they started "Portsmouth Joggers". He was an official with them for many years.
